Now that I have my system working again, how do I keep it that way?

May 5, 2015

There are simple rules to follow that will insure a long life for your septic system. Here are a few of them:

1. Do not put cooking grease or oil down the drain.

2. Limit what is put in the garbage disposal to plate residue after solids have been scraped into the garbage can.

3. Do not plant trees or shrubs close to or on the drain field.

4. Do not drive cars or equipment over the drain field.

5. Do not use large amounts of bleach or put any chemical or paint down the drain.

6. Have the septic tank pumped every 2 – 5 years.

7. Maintain drainage soil health by flushing one gallon of Septic Perc down the toilet every six months.
